So me and the lady decided it’s finally time to get a PS3… I gave her a Guitar Hero III (Legends of Rock) wireless guitar and a few games as a birthday present… I haven’t got the time to set it up though, but I will tomorrow! Mwahaha
Anyway, there’s this new game - Mirror’s Edge - I’ve been hearing so much about and after watching the trailer I.. I… well, I must have it! It looks so awesome! Anyone tried it yet? I think I’m going to buy it next month (when my cash flow is a bit higher)… I wanted to wait until I could buy a used one for a third of the current retail price, but that seems like a long time!
Check out the trailer:

I’m not that big on comic books… I find webcomics more interesting, specially since they’re free for everyone to enjoy and because, for most of the times, the work is more true to the artist behind it. A person who dedicates his time to develop web comic that doesn’t go through any kind of corporate censorship or any of the bullshit that book-comics have pull up with produces a very different output. I’m not saying there aren’t a lot of good comic books out there but, at least for me, the good ones are way too underground to waste time looking for.
Anyway, on to the main theme: a friend at work sent me a link to a comic strip about programmers and how it was possible to cut down development time by simply adding more programmers. I instantly fell in love! It was simple, direct, geeky and funny as hell!
Now, I must say, this is one of those comics directed only to it’s target audience: geeks (mainly coders). If you think you fit this category, by all means start educating yourself, the GeekHero way. On the other hand if you don’t, well, I don’t really believe non-geeks visit my website, so do it anyway!
As a treat, here’s one of my favorites!

I finally got the time to watch the fifth movie… I resisted to all the less-legal available versions on the internet and decided to stick to the plan! Man, am I glad I did that…
After four movies, you kind of know what to expect… at least for me, there’s really nothing I find repulsive anymore. I call that the saw-hostel therapy and, come to think of it, that’s kind of a good thing. I know the movie is for adults only (even if half the crowd was populated by annoyingly loud teenagers) but I think otherwise: what if it became part of an education system? Yeah, like, see this and terrorists will look like pussies. Children watching the news and saying That guy blew himself up? Pff, what a noob!
Okay, back to the movie. It was awesome! A lot of people complained that it wasn’t as great as the first one (I’m not even gonna go there) or that it should be less story and more death/torture scenes. I mean, come on! Do you also want Jason to come in with a machete and start Friday the 13th all over again? I thought the movie was awesome exactly because it was more story!
I think people somehow fell in love with the Jigsaw and the whole story behind him, the reason for the things he does. For those people, this movie will be like the last one, a sort of enlightenment on how John proceeds with his work along the way. You will also love how, once again, all the movies come together as one. Even the first one is revisited!
So, to summarize, if you haven’t watched it, now would be a good time! I’ve tried to keep to a no-detail post about the movie, as I’m sure you want to know nothing before watching it.
If you just want to see another random bunch of people get torture and killed watch Hostel… It definitly has less story and more death/torture scenes! Or even better, watch Dawn of the Dead: the movie where zombies exist because they do and they start existing because… yeah.
I’m very sorry about this design flaw and the delay to rectify the situation, but it’s finally done!
On the sidebar, right at the top for your convenience, is the simple form to subscribe to my posts by e-mail. The service is provided by the wonderful guys from FeedBurner, so don’t worry, you won’t get any spam, only updates!
Well, that’s all for now. I just came from watching the new SAW V and I’m now going to bed. Tomorrow I’ll write all about the movie, I promise!
The Dead Parrot. This is probably my favorite Monty Python’s sketch from their TV series. And no, I’m not counting the movies here, because those are just way too awesome to compare to a simple sketch. For the Monty-blind, please go to youtube and search for Monty Python… there’s nothing more to say, just watch it.
Anyway, a Greek book written in the 4th century - Philogelos: The Laugh Addict - was translated and seems to have a joke quite similar to Monty Python’s Dead Parrot (but instead of a parrot, it’s a slave!) and, I must say, would be a brilliant joke to use inside a movie like Life of Brian.
The joke essentially tells the tale of a man who returns a slave that died a few days after it was bought. “When he was with me, he never did any such thing!” was the reply. The 265 jokes in Philogelos are were written by Hierocles and Philagrius, about whom very little is known.

Hello my faithful readers (I hope!)… as you may have noticed, the website was down yesterday. This was due to a power failure on my servers and since still haven’t bought the damn UPS and only got home at 11PM, there wasn’t really anything I could do about it. :S
Buying an UPS is a tricky business… specially when you live in a place where the power rarely fails on you (ie - once every two years, maybe). It always seems like it isn’t exactly what you should be spending your money on. On the other hand, I do have servers and other sensible network equipment running 24/7, so yeah, I’m definitly giving this one some priority.
Oh, also, sorry about the post delay on this last week, but I’ve been extra-super-busy with work stuff… it’s not that I can’t find a gap here and there to write something, no. The problem is being so stressed out I can’t find one single thought to write about!
Well, anyway, I’ll write something as soon as possible. As always, you can subscribe to the RSS feeds, as many have done already, to keep up with the latest posts. I figure a lot of people still don’t use RSS, so I’ll try to find some time to get an e-mail subscription thinguie for the sidebar.
Have a nice day!
I’ve seen my fair share of funny t-shirts, specially geek-related, but this one definitely takes the cake! All the presidents lined up and then, right at the end, the newly elected Barack Obama, making the difference! He he!

It’s not even a real question to ask someone if they have a mobile phone… now-a-days every kind has the latest gadget available! Today I heard a man saying that he was going to buy a new PDA and was giving his old one to his son. So far so good, right? It would be, if the old one wasn’t an HTC Touch PRO which happens to cost 680€ here in Portugal!
Oh well… I guess it’s the world we live in. Anyway, the question I bring to you tonight is not if you have a mobile phone, but which kind of phone do you have?
I currently use two PDA phones - Toshiba G900 and HTC Touch Dual (both sponsored by the company where I work, heh) since I’m changing to a new carrier and still use both numbers. Besides that, I usually just use one, as it has all of my day-to-day tasks and appointments in there. I don’t really use it for e-mail since my work requires me to be in front of a laptop for most of the day (software developer).
So, what about you? Are you the PDA-geek type, or do you jam to more of an iPhone kind of style? Hmm, of maybe you prefer to kick it old school with the not-so-old new Symbian based phones, like the latest Nokia or Samsung, hum? I’ve created a poll for the matter, which you can use to vote right on the top of the sidebar!
